Bimini Top– usually supported by a metal frame, it is an open-front, free-standing, canvas cover top for the cockpit/center console area. Bimini tops can be raised for shelter from sun and rain, and are made to collapse when not in use. A Bimini is mostly used for protection from the sun. When moving at any speed, it offers little to no protection from rain, wind or spray. Only when the boat is stationary and there is no wind is there any protection from rain.
Convertible Top Cover – is frame supported; differs from that of a bimini top as it is attached with snaps to the top of the windshield and normally covers the entire open windshield area of the boat; most often used during inclement weather.
Sunshade – is a frame supported top which extends from/off the back of a radar arch – also known as a back bimini. This top looks similar to an awning.
